I have many pieces of real nice northern California actinolite. Trying to find someone that would be interested in buying.
I would love this, but i don’t have a very large budget
would like to find a club near St. George. We are new to the area and would like to join a club if there is one here. We have gone hounding in Arizona, Montana, and Northern California. We would like to meet others to go with…it’s more fun with a group.
Southern Utah Rock club, you can find them on Facebook, or southernutahrockclub.org
Hi. I love everything that comes out of the dirt. But question, I went to Montana to the sapphire mine and now have some sapphires to sell. Dose anyone know who buys rough uncut sapphires? I also have some of the most lovely other stones and have no clue what they even are. Any one want to help me that would be awesome. Thank you. Kira Smith.
I’m in town for a few day and am interested in going out rock hounding. How can bbn I find a guide/group for areas near murray/salt lake city? Possibly for 9/19/18? Short notice but any help is appreciated
I second Colleen Edwards post, I have gone on many of Colleen’s field trips and you are sure to find many Rock’s that will suit your desires. If not then your not looking hard enough. There are usually members of other Clubs that join her on her trips, and are usually very knowledgeable about the area you are collecting in. Colleen plans the trip times, organizes the itinerary, gets permission if we are going on a private claim, and really tries to make sure everyone has a successful trip. You just can’t beat her kindness and generosity too. I am a member of two clubs right now, and have been a member of four at one time, clubs are nice to belong to, especially when you meet monthly to visit with others who have similar interests, listen to presentation that have been organized by that club and often listen to a special guest, like a geologist, a mineralogist, an anthropogist, or Lapidarist, etc., Or even just listen to an Oldtimer that has been studying Rocks and Minerals all his life but didn’t have the support needed to get a college education, there are many people out there that know and feel the passions of the Earth’s Story. A club is nice and I usually tell people to join a local club, but with social Media ever present in people’s lives, an online club isn’t a bad way to go too either. Just throwing out options for you. 🙂
Wow David Ekins! Thanks so much for your kind words! Sorry, just seeing this now. LOL
I and my grandsons would be most interested in attending one of your outings. Where are you located?
I’m interested in gaining knowledge about rocks gems and minerals …. I’ve been a Rockhound for three years and want to gain knowledge of my collection and where to sell and what to do with them which would be a good club for me to join ????
I would like to go to the Milford opal sites. I read that UFG&MS has this under claim
Could you give me a current address to send a donation to collect there please.

Thank you!!!
Which society should we join if we are interested in rock hunting?
We like to see the rocks before they are polished and after.
We are only interested in rock from Utah..
Thank you
Karen
Eagle Mountain, Ut
Hi Karen! Usually they are based on locale. I see you are in Eagle Mountain so you might consider the Timpanogos Gem and Mineral Society. I understand they are mostly Utah county and I have a few friends that go with them and they seem like a good group.
Check out Tooele Rock and Talk on Facebook. It’s a “virtual rock club”, no membership charged and we go out on field trips!
